During conversations with trucking executives earlier in the year, most expressed cautious optimism that the outlook for the year would improve slightly during the second half. Now that we’ve arrived, however, it’s difficult to gauge whether the sector has turned the corner.

Rising fuel costs are the single issue to blame and worse yet, it doesn’t look likely to dissipate anytime soon.

No Left Lane For Trucks On Florida Turnpike

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports today that trucks will be banned from the fast lane of the Florida turnpike starting February 1, 2008.  The ban will be enforced on a 40 mile stretch from the Lantana toll plaza near Lake Worth to the Golden Glades interchange in Miami-Dade County.  Commuters have been complaining about trucks getting in the way and slowing commute times on the busy highway. Truck drivers say the ban is going to create even more problems.

Tennessee Interstate 40 Is The Best Road In The Nation

Overdrive Magazine polls 700 plus truckers each year across the country and has them rate the country’s roads. The survey includes quality of roads, smoothness of the surface, road signs and markings and much more.
